‘HOLDUPS‘, directed by Rafael Cobos and starring Luis Tosar, Jesús Carroza and Teresa Garzón, begins shooting, which will last seven weeks in different locations in Seville and Madrid.
Rafael Cobos, who debuted in directing with the series ‘El hijo zurdo’ (awarded at Canneseries), has a long and solid career as a screenwriter, closely linked to director Alberto Rodríguez, together they have created stories that combine narrative depth with a keen sense of the social and cultural reality of our country, such as ‘Grupo 7‘ ‘La isla mínima‘, ‘El hombre de las mil caras‘ and ‘Modelo 77‘; their fruitful collaboration has been recognized with two Goya awards and up to four nominations. In addition, in television, his work as a screenwriter in ‘Apagón’ and as co-creator and showrunner of ‘La peste‘ stand out.
On this occasion, Cobos gets behind the camera, in what is his first feature film as a director; a story that he also co-wrote with screenwriter Fernando Navarro (‘Segundo Premio’, ‘Orígenes secretos’ ‘Verónica’), nominated twice for the Goya awards.
Starring the winner of three Goya awards, Luis Tosar (‘La Infiltrada’, ‘Celda 211’, ‘Te doy mis ojos’, ‘Los lunes al sol’), Jesús Carroza (‘Modelo 77’, ‘La isla mínima’), Goya award for Best New Actor, and Teresa Garzón (‘Noches de Tefía’), ‘GOLPES’ is a new look at quinqui cinema, a film subgenre that emerged in the 80s; a fast-paced thriller, but with a complex vision, which feeds on the legend and the story of its characters. The cast is completed by Cristina Alcázar, Carlos Bernardino and Cristalino.
In the words of Rafael Cobos: ‘Golpes’ is a bid to revitalize the cinema quinqui, delve into its essence, but looking for the difference. If the quinqui cinema is frontal, explicit and talks about things in an obvious and stark way, ‘Golpes’ is a subtle fable that aims to talk about a country in transition, contradictory, disoriented and unable to settle accounts with its past. A thriller about blood ties and memory’.
The technical team includes Sergi Vilanova Claudín (‘Saben aquell’, ‘Adú’) as Director of Photography; Gigia Pellegrini (‘Segundo premio’, ‘Modelo 77’) as Art Director; Tamara Soto (‘El caso Asunta’, ‘El cuerpo abierto’) as Production Director; Lourdes Fuentes (‘Segundo premio’, ‘La trinchera infinita’), as head of wardrobe; Yolanda Piña (‘Modelo 77 ‘, ‘La trinchera infinita’), in makeup and hairdressing, and Carlos Mouriño (‘Clanes’, ‘Honeymoon’) as head of sound. The original music will be provided by the musical artist Bronquio.

SYNOPSIS
‘HOLDUPS’ tells the story of Migueli, a delinquent who is released from prison in the changing Spain of the early 1980s. He wants to look to the future, but first he will have to seal the wounds of the past. To do this he needs a lot of money and he needs it fast. As soon as he arrives in Seville, he gathers his old gang, and they hit several places in a row: bank branches, jewelry stores… and even the first casino in the area. They are not going to have it easy: the police have entrusted the case to his own brother, Sabino, who knows very well how they think. But Migueli will not stop. He is ready to go all the way.
