A few days ago, Vaca Films celebrated its 20th anniversary.
Founded in A Coruña in 2003 by Emma Lustres and Borja, the Galician company has established itself as one of Spain’s leading producers of films and series for both the domestic and international markets.
On the occasion of this anniversary, Vaca Films presents a new logo commemorating the 20 years that the production company has been “in action”.
Throughout these 20 years, Vaca Films productions have been distributed worldwide through various European, Latin American and North American distributors. In recent years, international distribution has been mainly through platforms such as Netflix. In addition, Vaca Films’ films, have participated in international festivals such as Venice, Toronto, San Sebastian or Berlin and have been recognized with numerous Goya awards and other important recognitions.
Vaca Films’ filmography includes classics such as Cell 211, the blockbuster El niño, or relevant thrillers such as To steal from a thief, Retribution, Eye for an eye, Sky High or Code name Emperor. Several of these films are among the highest grossing in recent Spanish cinema.
In recent years, Vaca Films has also turned to series production, highlighting the first season of The Unit, an original series for Movistar+ and The mess you leave behind, a global hit on Netflix.
In 2023, in addition to celebrating its 20th anniversary, Vaca Films will release Hasta el cielo: La serie (March 17) on Netflix and the films Fatum (April 28) and Un pasado por delante, which join the recent release of the feature film Infiesto, available on Netflix and which has emerged as the most watched film in Spain during the week of its release.
