Founded by Emma Lustres and Borja Pena in 2003, Vaca Films has established itself in Spain as one of the leading production companies in the development and production of successful films and series for both national and international markets, combining quality with commerciality.
Its productions have grossed more than 50MM€ in Spain and have been distributed worldwide, participating in the most important festivals (Venice, Toronto, San Sebastian or Berlin) and winning dozens of Goya Awards and other important mentions.
Among their most successful films are “Celda 211”, “El Niño”, “Cien años de perdón”, “El Desconocido”, “Quien a hierro mata”, “Hasta el cielo”, “La Sombra de la Ley” or “Fatum”. This year they have released “El Correo”, a thriller directed by Daniel Calparsoro and starring Arón Piper, Luis Tosar and María Pedraza. Top 1 at the domestic box office and Top 1 on Netflix for 2 weeks, within the category of non-English speaking films.
Through its Vaca TV line, in 2020 they premiere the first season of “La Unidad”, a Movistar+ series that signed the most watched launch of an original in the history of the platform, and the Netflix series “El desorden que dejas”, created by Carlos Montero; “Hasta el cielo. La serie”, continuation of the film of the same name directed by Daniel Calparsoro and ‘Clanes’, directed by Roger Gual and starring Clara Lago and Tamar Novas, which has accumulated 11 weeks among the most watched series on Netflix in Spain. It has pending premiere the documentary series ‘El Circo de los Muchachos’ for Prime Video, directed by Elías León Seminiani.
They are currently developing and preparing several film and TV projects with leading screenwriters and directors of the national scene.
